The only thing which is worrying us is the quality of the "Bjursta", 199€, table which we assembled ourselves by the book, taking every precaution not to scratch it or otherwise have any defects. Everything went well for a couple of weeks, but then suddenly the side panels which are probably normally being glued started to fall apart. Below some pictures.
IKEA has a return policy which allows us to change our defected products, but as we also paid for a transportation service from IKEA to our home, we would like to present a question for IKEA:
- Do we have to take the defected product back to IKEA at our own time and cost, although we paid for the transportation service to bring the products here, or does IKEA come to collect the defected items and provide new ones ?
Obviously we should not be responsible for correcting the mistake of the IKEA quality control, but let's see what the customer service will tell us. We will publish the answer here, if there is an answer.
UPDATE 7/3:
So as IKEA did not care about replying to us, we went to change the table ourselves. We got our spare parts quickly and in addition we got free lunch.
The thing is that these new parts are defected as well. After 2 weeks the glue starts to deteriorate so the problem is the same. Just look at the pictures.
I wonder if IKEA cares this time.
UPDATE 14/3:
It seems that IKEA really cares.
How nice of IKEA to drop by without telling us that they will come to replace the table. We got information that it might happen within 3 days, but we could not find any information with the tracking number provided by them. No phone call - nothing. They just decided to come on 14th of March and replace the table.
They also replaced the whole table, because we did not know that they are coming and did not disassemble the table. As we had a hurry to go to work and as they did not have any tools to change the plates - they decided to change the whole table. So I got a new table to assemble again instead of just assembling the top plates. Great!
UPDATE 26/3:
Same defects seem to continue. I wonder when IKEA gives up and returns our money or proposes a new table. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME WE START A RETURN PROCEDURE OF THE SAME BJURSTA TABLE.
